Part I - The Madness Continues

“Hey ma is Breakfast ready?” Sid called out.

“Yes Sid, I have Idlis, Rice, Chutney and Rasam.”

“Not again ma! You know I hate that stuff!”

“Sid, what more do you want me to make at this hour? Moreover this food is good for your health.”

“Alright, I’ll make myself some noodles then.”

“But all this food ….”

“Just chuck it ma.”

With this, he strode into the kitchen without a word to his mother and started making his noodles.

About half an hour later, he was speeding across West-Off chord road and was already late for his college.

He was about to overtake an elderly man on an Activa when a Bus passed them; the old man slowed down with visible apprehension at the sight of the Bus. Sid narrowly missed crashing into him.

“Hey you idiot! Learn to ride!” was all he managed to shout at the old man before he sped away on his Bullet.

About 10 minutes later …

“Please come for the Next Class”

“But ma’am I was stopped by Traffic Police! That’s why I’m late!”

“You always have some Excuse. Please leave the class.”

“But …”

“Don’t disturb the students who have come early! Leave the class now!”

He gave her the Dirtiest look he could muster before slamming the classroom door.

He had half a mind to lock it from outside, but he was in enough trouble with the teachers as it is.

The Lingam ( Speaks for us all )

Oh Lingam, My Lingam You Stand So High

U Stare at the Sky with Your Mighty Eye

You Make Me Writhe Like a Snake About To Die

You Make Me Moan Like Child About To Cry

And When You Throw Up It Makes Me Swoon

Like I’ve emerged from A Mighty Cocoon

But With Pleasure and Grief I Stare Up At the Moon

Wondering Why My Banana Become a Chilly So Soon

Chapter 1: The Great Plague

Part 1 :

“What have I done wrong to see my people suffering like this?”

thought the Proffad as he lay on his death bed.

His tribe had gone through the worst of nature’s vehemence

but nothing had affected them as bad as the epidemic. It started

with the illness which the young ones got while playing in the

great Khaugusa River. They came back feeling sick and could not eat

or sleep properly since. The Medhan who examined the young ones

told them not to go out of their homes and gave to their parents the

Costhemaar. A medicine made from leaves of the Aesache Shrub boiled

along with the Sap of the magical Ghamtaf tree and powdered horn

of Charech.

The Costhemaar had before this healed even the worst of illnesses

that had ever afflicted the tribe of Guandonn. But the young ones

never got better.

They said they felt too pained to even move and could not bear it.

Death consumed them within a short time. The parents even through

their grief thought something was amiss as they too started feeling

the unusual weakness growing in them. Within days nearly everyone

in the tribe had the illness. Something even the Medhans couldn't explain.

Rumors spread that the very air they breathed was cursed.

Darkness spread through the land as fingers were pointed, fights were fought

and death was everywhere. The medhans, whom the tribe believed

to be the ones chosen by the gods,

were now looked upon desperately to somehow end their despair.

Women are from Venus ....

24/10/2006

Saturday.

Time – 10.45 pm

It was a green two storied building so small it looked like a big toy house. Only, it was the exact opposite of one. The whole of Magadi road was infested with many houses like these. This one was in a particularly dingy state. Decorations were made to give it an oriental appearance by someone who had absolutely no idea what an oriental building looked like. Some say its decorations reminded them of how an old woman will look like with a lot of makeup. It was a brothel.

“Ok, where’s my share?” demanded constable Muthuraju the beat police of that area.

“I’m sorry sir, business hasn’t even started yet and you make such a big demand. We ...”

“Shut up and listen you little pimp!” Burst out Muthuraju.

“I am tired from today’s rounds and I need some liquor to sooth me. So just give me my money and I’ll leave.”

“Sir I already told you, we haven’t even started yet. Please sir. If you are interested, you can use one of our girls.” The pimp pointed to some young girls huddling in a group.

He pulled out one of them clad in a skimpy yellow sari and red blouse.

“Try Lakshmi sir, she will sooth you better than any liquor ever can.”

The constables’ eyes seemed to grow bigger as he eyed the girl.

“All right, But I won’t pay anything and my share still remains for tomorrow.”

“Ok sir. Thank you very much. Lakshmi, take sir and treat him well.”

“Please follow her to room sir.”

She led him through a maze of small rooms, the sounds of men and women screaming was almost deafening. Until they came to a very small room. The walls were painted blue and the cot in the corner seemed like an ant’s weight could make it collapse.

“All right, what are you waiting for?” he growled as he hastily undid his zipper.

She took off her sari and blouse. She wasn’t wearing a bra underneath. Then she proceeded to take her petticoat off. She then stood trembling and naked before him.

He laid her down on the bed and mounted her, and with every thrust his body wobbled. She was squirming with displeasure, and struggled to breathe under his mass.

He suddenly stopped. “Why do you have hair on your body?” he asked.

“Because it grows there. What do you think?”

“Don’t you shave it off?”

“Why should I? It’ll only grow back.”

He looked like he was about to vomit as he got off the bed.

“How could she insult the sacred feminine of India? How could she let the disgusting hair grow and not do anything about it? I cannot let this happen!”

With some difficulty, he zipped up, and from his belt wielded his lathi.

“Today you will know the consequences of not shaving, foolish girl.” And he started beating her with the thick teakwood stick. She screamed and rolled around in agony, hands flailing.

He continued until she stopped moving. Until her frail body didn’t respond anymore.

He just had one more thing left to do. He reached into his shirt pocket and pulled out a gleaming razor blade. He then bent over her and began…

Times Of India, 25/10/2006. Wednesday.

Brothel worker murdered

Lakshmi, a 17 year old prostitute was found murdered in Sangama Pleasure house in Magadi Road. She was found dead with severe wounds to her head and neck. What seems to be intriguing is that her assailant shaved her entire body except the head and eyebrows clean with what seems to be a Gillette Venus, a shaving blade meant for women.

Officials are puzzled as to why the killer has depilated the body.

So far the police have nothing to say about the gruesome murder.

“We are very close to nabbing the culprit who is responsible for this.” Says a certain Constable Muthuraju who is the assistant to Inspector Ananthashayana in charge of the case.

11th July 2006, 6.45 pm, Mumbai.

A series of bombs were detonated in different trains plying from Churchgate station during rush hour claiming 200 lives and injuring over 700 people. All this happened within a span of 11 minutes. Widespread panic followed thus leaving the city in turmoil. The country declared a high alert, disruption of all travel related services was the outcome. And the authorities cleaned up all the debris including the mangled bodies by 10.45 pm (Within 4 hours of the attacks). Their main goal, to restore peace and to continue life as we normally saw it. Or in other words, they didn't want the citizens to realise the truth. "We Are Cowards".

Here, i'd like to remember an incident that stirred up the world a few years ago.

On September 5th, the Palestinian terrorist organisation Black September took eleven Israeli atheletes hostage and eventually killed them.

Israeli Intelligence or The Mossad launched a counter attack so powerful, they redefined the word "Vendetta". Revenge is not looked upon as justice by the law. But such an act of terrorism needs to be dealt with the saying, "An eye for an Eye".

And then recently, there was the 2005 London Bombings.

The wreckage (including the bodies) were left untouched and the stations closed down for about a month. The reason, they wanted to know exactly what happened and how. The forensic inspectors worked 24/7 throughout this month putting together all the pieces of the clues and debris. The point, is that they did everything humanly possible so that nothing like this ever happened again.

This is where they differ from us.

The Indian Railways employs roughly around 1.6 million people, setting the record for the largest commercial or utility employer. Had we, like London closed down the stations and done our duties, we would have had the persons responsible long ago. But the money the government makes every year crosses 12,000 crores. Here, they chose not to lose 1000 crores rather than bringing justice to the victims. Summing it up in a few points :

1 - The government is inefficient and doesnt seem to care about it's people.

2 - The population of this country is so large, the government is not entirely to blame.

3 - There's just too many people who don't care about anyone but themselves.

4 - And hence, working as a team is out of the question for us.

5 - Unity in diversity ?

I see a lot of diversity. But so far, there has been no sign of unity.
